The Lawn and Garden Tools - How to Buy Your Man the Right Stuff
With all the television commercials, radio and print advertisements and hype that is thrown at us to get us to buy something, it can be difficult to know what to look for when buying that special man in your life tools that he will enjoy using on the lawn or garden. Of course, you probably love getting out there, too, so the smart buyer will help you as much as him. Although there are many things to account for when trying to buy the tools, I want to share only two things to keep in mind that it can help a lot.
Think quality not quantity or cost
Yes, believe it or not, although people can be quite a "scrooge-ish" with spending money on holidays, most people would certainly prefer to give only one good (and expensive!) tool than the range of cheap, low quality tools. Just like owning a truck or a well-made classic, well-made bike, people take pride of ownership in high-quality tools they know that they last for decades.
Consider the ease of use, but do not get fooled by Silly Gimmicks 100 uses the
There are some really cool innovations in tools that make using them easier, more convenient, and more useful. For example, most people today use the same tool for drilling, the grind and bolt, without ever having to take more than one unit and never use the power cord. But, as you know, many tricks of the advertising promise of one more tool to do that stuff, saving you hundreds of dollars, and when you actually get your hands on it and start working with him, it is easily broken, interchangeable parts start falling off, and you realize that you were deceived.
Fortunately, in the world of lawn and garden tools, there are several manufacturers using the cool innovations to produce excellent products. They have been making high quality, easy to use, durable tools that combine technology telescoping handle to adjust the length for different applications with the ability to quickly rotate different heads to allow a tool to solve many jobs.
But, again, beware! Low quality plastic or metal, poor locking mechanisms, and poor design can make a telescopic tool so frustrating, even dangerous, you'll see it in the trash before you take down the tree! In most cases, the original innovator and manufacturer of new technology creates a product worth owning, but the idea was quickly emulated by others who produce low-quality imitations, or "knock off"to ride a wave of popularity created by the source. Sometimes imitation is not too bad, but unfortunately it is rarely the case.
Starting A Sustainable Garden: Choosing The Perfect Garden For You
Saturday, 19 March 2011
This article is the second in a series designed to help those interested in starting your own. Whether you're working with limited space, or have a large space available, whether you are interested in fruits, vegetables, or flowers, I hope you find these tips helpful.
Step One: Decide what type of garden you want
If you are thinking of starting a garden, the first thing you need to consider what type of garden you have. There are many different options, and often it can be hard to pick just one, but hopefully these tips can help you narrow down. After narrowing it down, you'll do gardening experience easier on yourself and plants. If all your plants are similar in type, then it should not be very difficult to care for them all. So here are some of the main garden ideas for you to choose from.
Flowers
If you're just looking for something to look nice in your yard, you May want to consider you a flower. There are several different families of flowers available for your new garden. Perennial flowers are flowers that return year after year. Different areas have different climates and the flowers which are considered perennials.
Annuals are flowers that must be planted every year - usually in the spring, although this also depends on climate and location.
If you do a quick internet search for your location, you can probably find a list of flowers that will bring your garden to life. Flowers are generally pretty easy to grow, since they often require the most work in the planting stage - after that, they can usually take care of themselves to some extent
Vegetables
Another choice for your new patio garden. This usually requires a little more work and research than the flower, but can be much more rewarding, because they can help put food on the table! Depending on your climate, May be able to produce vegetables in your garden for most of the year.
When starting a vegetable garden, you should build it with the thought in mind that you May be adding more types of vegetables at a later date. This will help your expansion. Once all your current crops are out of season, you can rotate in new and different crops. This type of planning works very well for those with limited garden space. vegetable garden is ideal for someone who wants to produce some, but does not want to devote every waking hour to perfecting their garden (see below).
Fruit
One of the more difficult types of gardens to manage is a fruit garden (this may include trees, fruit-bearing shrubs or plants, or combinations of these). This is definitely the most high-maintenance type of garden. When growing fruits, many more pests will be attracted because of the sweetness of fruit. You not only have to deal with having just the right soil and fertilizer, you have to deal with the choice of natural pesticides which will not pose a health risk for those-eat fruit.
Your fruit garden will probably not produce fruit throughout the year. soil should be just right for the plants to grow, and putting in another crop during the off-season could be difficult, or even detrimental to the growth process. But if you're willing to put a lot of work in maintaining the garden, which gives a sweet reward, and then fruit garden could be a good choice for you.
So far I have outlined some of the main garden types that people choose, it is time to spend some time considering his decision. Basically, the garden type comes down to what you want to get from him, and how much work you put into it. If you are looking for a beautiful garden with a little work, go to the flower garden.
If you want to grow lots of tasty food, and are willing to put in more time and effort, then go for vegetable or fruit garden.
Just make sure that this is something you enjoy doing - otherwise, it will be worth it to put you in the work involved.
In the next article in this series, we will discuss how to choose the best location for your new garden.

How to Get Rid of Those Red Ants in Your Garden
Believe me, you hate those little creatures in your garden that are really painful when you bite on your skin. It's really boring to see them attacking your eggplant, tomatoes, peppers, and almost most of my vegetables were the victims of these little ants, but the problem in our garden.
I have a terrible pain you experience the ants when I was weeding my plants, and I happen to be buried in a colony, not knowing that it was, when suddenly my leg was already half covered with these tiny creatures.
I have suffered too much pain and was sick during the night after being beaten.
So what I did, the next day, I mixed my homemade insecticides formulations following ...
for a gallon of water, I measured two tablespoon of powdered laundry soap, two tablespoons of vegetable oil, two tablespoons baking soda and one teaspoon of chlorine powder.
After mixing all the ingredients I put the solution for the hand sprayer, about a half gallon in size, and I immediately went to my garden where there was a colony of ants.
When you see that the ants are somewhat enjoyed their work, I immediately sprayed them directly to the decision I made. You could just imagine a solution to their goal, only about 30 seconds, all those who were hit immediately died.
I continued the process until they are almost all totally killed. Those who were below the ground, I dig a tool to come to the surface, and the same process to spray them directly.
It took me about an hour to continue spraying until they have all been completely eradicated.
So, if you have these tiny creatures in your garden, do not panic anymore, follow my wording and say goodbye to the red ants. It is really effective, though you spend a little amount to buy the necessary ingredients to the mixture, but in no way worth the amount of these efforts.
Happy gardening.
